Brent Crater Trail
Hike to the base of the magnificent Brent Crater, formed 450 million years ago when a meteorite struck the earth.
Brent_Crater

A short drive East along Highway 17 from Mattawa Voyageur Country is the Brent Crater Road leading South into Algonquin Park.
Also a popular access point for canoeists entering the Algonquin Park interior, the road as the name suggests passes by the Brent Crater, truly a natural marvel.
A lookout tower is located just off the road, providing panoramic views of the 3 kilometre wide crater.
A self guided interpretive trail of approx 2km descends from the road to the base of the crater, then climbs back out. A trail guide available at the park office and at the trail head, provides fascinating information about the crater.
A park permit is required to enter the park, and is well worth the money.
